The Londa PHC, managed by Shree Daneshwari Seva Sansthe (SDSS), became part of the Arogya Bandu scheme initiated by the Government of Karnataka through the Department of Health and Family Welfare. This involved the restructuring of PHC structures for enhanced health services, with SDSS playing a crucial role. The Londa PHC faced challenges such as low performance indicators, high rates of infant and maternal mortality, and insufficient coverage in immunization and institutional delivery, prompting the government to seek NGO intervention, particularly from Shree Daneshwari Seva Sansthe.
SDSS envisions better health for all and has undertaken various health awareness programs, sensitizing the community to the necessity for a Primary Health Center (PHC) in Londa, Khanapur Taluka. The Department of Health and Family Welfare recognized this need and established the PHC in Londa, entrusting Shree Daneshwari Seva Sansthe with the responsibility of providing staff.
In the establishment of the PHC, Shree Daneshwari Seva Sansthe provided staff to the PHC and its sub-centers, adhering to the staffing norms of the Government of Karnataka. All PHC staff, being employees of Shree Daneshwari Seva Sansthe, work in accordance with national and state health and family welfare norms. SDSS actively implements services offered by National and State Health and Family Welfare Programs within the PHC, ensuring a holistic approach to healthcare.
Since its initiation in 2017, the Londa PHC, managed by Shree Daneshwari Seva Sansthe, has provided quality health services to approximately 17,601 people across 34 villages, with five sub-centers in Khanapur Taluka. Services are offered free of cost, including diagnosis, treatments, and drugs, except as per government policy. The PHC also addresses Medico-legal cases following guidelines. The localized PHC has positively impacted women, children, and the elderly, with the community appreciating the quality service provided by dedicated technical staff under the auspices of Shree Daneshwari Seva Sansthe.
The success of the PHC, addressing health-related information and needs, has garnered support from THO, DHO, and other health institutions. Achievements include a significant reduction in home deliveries, with approximately 1107 institutional deliveries conducted in the last five years. Additionally, 840 eye surgeries and successful immunization campaigns were carried out through the PHC, emphasizing Shree Daneshwari Seva Sansthe's commitment to comprehensive healthcare.
Emphasizing the reduction of infant and maternal mortality rates and achieving MDG goals, Shree Daneshwari Seva Sansthe, through the PHC, focuses on developing critical awareness among the 34 villagers in the Londa PHC jurisdiction. Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities, along with community involvement, have been instrumental in spreading health-related messages through methods such as pamphlets and handouts, all under the banner of Shree Daneshwari Seva Sansthe.
